The WSJ article got the facts wrong. \u201d He added that he hasn\u2019t discussed a Binance US deal with the Trump family.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say that \u201cno felon would mind a pardon, especially being the only one in US history who was ever sentenced to prison for a single BSA [Bank Secrecy Act] charge. Feels like the article is motivated as an attack on the President and crypto, and the residual forces of the \u201cwar on crypto\u201d from the last administration are still at work.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">4. In\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ELyDPmKD3G\">https:\/\/t.co\/ELyDPmKD3G<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CZ \ud83d\udd36 BNB (@cz_binance) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cz_binance\/status\/1900194883891322948?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/currencies\/trump-family-has-held-deal-talks-with-binance-following-crypto-exchanges-guilty-plea-05b029fa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WSJ article<\/a>, talks between Trump\u2019s administration and Binance began last year after the crypto exchange reached out to Trump allies to strike a business deal to bring the exiled company back to America.<\/p>\n<h2>$4.3 billion deal<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In November 2023, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/binance-ceo-changpeng-zhao-to-resign-as-part-of-doj-settlement-report\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zhao resigned as Binance\u2019s CEO<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as part of a $4.3 billion deal with the Department of Justice (DoJ) to drop criminal charges against the crypto exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Zhao also pleaded guilty to breaching the Bank Secrecy Act after violating anti-money laundering procedures at Binance. Zhao was later denied travel to the UAE over concerns of being a flight risk despite offering <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/us-judge-denies-changpeng-zhao-travel-to-uae-despite-4-5b-binance-equity-offer\/\">$4.5 billion in Binance equity as security<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2024, Zhao was sentenced to four months in prison and was released in September of that year.<\/p>\n<h2>Presidential pardon<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since returning to the White House, Trump has pardoned Ross Ulbricht, the creator of Silk Road.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-signs-order-pardons-silk-road-creator-ross-ulbricht\/\">Trump gave Ulbricht a full pardon in January<\/a> after he had spent 12 years in prison.
