Bush<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The confirmation of Paul Atkins as the next US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair is being delayed due to the submission of paperwork.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to Eleanor Mueller, Semafor\u2019s Congress reporter, who posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Eleanor_Mueller\/status\/1901714958108291193\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X<\/a>. She wrote:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenate Banking Chair Tim Scott is eyeing March 27 for a committee hearing on <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/Donald+Trump\">Trump\u2019s<\/a> nominee to chair the SEC, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/Paul+Atkins\">Paul Atkins<\/a>, I\u2019m told. This is a significant selection for Trump, as Atkins is considered a pro-crypto figure in the industry. During his election, Trump promised to reshape the regulatory landscape for digital finance and clarify cryptocurrency rules.<\/p>\n<p>Mueller continued that the Senate banking committee is also planning to hold a bipartisan meeting on\u00a0 Friday, March 21, to discuss Atkins\u2019 nomination.<\/p>\n<h2>Financial disclosure<\/h2>\n<p>This latest development follows from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/article\/03\/03\/2025\/trumps-sec-pick-paul-atkins-is-in-paperwork-purgatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">March 3 report<\/a> from Semafor. In it, Mueller detailed how the White House hadn\u2019t produced the required paperwork to schedule a confirmation hearing for Atkins. This also included his financial disclosure given the fact that he married into a billionaire family.<\/p>\n<p>In 1990, Atkins married Sarah Humphreys Atkins, whose family is linked to Tamko Building Products, a company that manufactures roofing shingles in the US. Last year, it made $1.2 billion in revenue, according to a December report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jemimamcevoy\/2024\/12\/14\/trumps-pick-for-paul-atkins-sec-chairman-married-into-a-2-billion-roofing-fortune\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forbes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One former Senate Banking Committee member said: \u201cIt\u2019s a lot to go through. But he got named so early on, so I think that\u2019s why people are starting to be like, \u2018What the hell\u2019s taking so long?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Atkins previously served as an SEC Commissioner between 2002 and 2008 under former President George W. Bush.<\/p>\n<p>While the agency awaits the confirmation of Atkins, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/Mark+Uyeda\">Mark Uyeda<\/a> is the <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/acting-sec-chair-uyeda-announces-new-crypto-task-force\/\">acting chair<\/a>.
