Yet, judging by online behavior, you would not know it. Despite setting new price records in recent days, Bitcoin\u2019s Google search volume is still nowhere near what it was during earlier bull runs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><strong>Good to know<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/cryptocurrencies\/section\/what-is-a-bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> reached a new high of $119,356 on July 13, 2025.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Google search interest for \u201cbitcoin\u201d remains far below 2021 levels.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Retail traders still appear hesitant, despite massive price gains.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_100827\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-100827\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-100827\" src=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/google-trends-bitcoin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"347\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-100827\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>We are still not seeing a massive interest in Bitcoin if we are to believe Google Trends.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While the headlines are filled with talk of six-figure Bitcoin, the retail crowd seems largely absent so far. Google Trendsdata shows a big gap between today\u2019s price action and the kind of hype that surrounded the 2021 peak. In May 2021, the term \u201cbitcoin\u201d hit a score of 100 on Google Trends. Today, that score is only 24 when measured across the past five years.<\/p>\n<p>Even over the last 12 months, the number barely reaches 35. It does rise when zooming in on the last 90 days\u2014hitting 88 on July 11\u2014but by July 13 it had already cooled to 55. A $119,000 headline might make newcomers think they are priced out. The assumption that Bitcoin must be bought whole\u2014rather than in fractions\u2014continues to be a barrier. Even though anyone can buy a small amount, the psychological sticker shock remains.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>On a side note, back in 2021, Bitcoin was relatively new for the mainstream and consequentially people wanted to know more about it and therefore took to internet. A lack of search volume for Bitcoin, can simply also mean that people &#8220;already know&#8221; about Bitcoin and are not trying to find out more by searching the internet. They could be happy enough learning from the mainstream media. Or another one that is very likely, using AI powered tools such as ChatGPT.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The lack of retail buzz stands in contrast to what we saw in 2021, when soaring prices drove online interest, social media chatter, and a wave of first-time buyers. Back then, Google search traffic exploded in sync with the price. In 2021, retail played a huge role in pushing the price to record levels. Today\u2019s market has already reached those levels\u2014without that same retail wave.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin\u2019s divisibility, long-term supply cap, and appeal as an alternative to traditional finance remain unchanged. But interest from the average person still lags behind.
