Wall Street Pushes Deeper Into Tokenized Equities With 24\/7 Trading Platform<\/h2>\n

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE<\/a>) is taking a major step into blockchain<\/a> finance through a new partnership with digital asset firm Securitize. According to the Wall Street Journal, the two companies plan to develop a platform for issuing and trading tokenized securities around the clock.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, Securitize<\/a> will act as NYSE\u2019s first digital transfer agent. This role allows it to convert traditional stocks and exchange-traded funds into blockchain-based tokens. Transfer agents are responsible for maintaining shareholder records, issuing certificates, and handling dividend payments.<\/p>\n

The partnership also includes plans to create a framework for other transfer agents. This framework will set standards for issuing and managing tokenized securities in a compliant way.<\/p>\n

NYSE\u2019s proposed platform, called the Digital Trading Platform, is designed to support 24\/7 trading and near-instant settlement. Investors may also fund transactions using stablecoins<\/a>. The move follows NYSE\u2019s earlier filing to launch the platform, as competition intensifies. Nasdaq recently received approval to support tokenized trading within its existing infrastructure. However, Nasdaq plans to rely on traditional clearing systems, while NYSE is building a separate blockchain-based venue.<\/p>\n

Industry leaders see this as a turning point. Tokenization could reshape how assets like stocks, bonds<\/a>, and funds are issued and traded. By placing ownership records directly on blockchain<\/a> networks, markets can become faster, more transparent, and more accessible.<\/p>\n
