The loan was supposed to be repaid by March 28, 12 months after its issuance.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, until the time of writing, Tether has not received any repayment from Titan Holdings. In the lawsuit, Tether requests <strong>\u201cthe freezing of financial assets deposited in bank accounts, financial applications, investments, and any other financial assets held by the Defendants Titan, Master Holding, and Master Participa\u00e7\u00f5es be ordered.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even so, Tether is now among a large number of creditors seeking restitution from the Master conglomerate, whose demise caused losses reaching into the tens of billions.<\/p>\n<p>Tether clarified that this loan was not part of the funds backing <a href=\"https:\/\/buy.bitcoin.com\/?utm_source=News\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USDT<\/a>\u2019s issuance, as it is part of its loan portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>The event draws attention to the pool of the company\u2019s secured loans, which comprises 8.25% of its reserves, or about $15.8 billion. Tether <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.ctfassets.net\/vyse88cgwfbl\/6crn1tXbl6AtWZBWucZnfg\/c4ff472d70c1b48c2f689f27b54c84f5\/ISAE_3000R_-_Opinion_Tether_International_Financial_Figure_31-03-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alleges<\/a> that these loans are <strong>\u201cover collateralized by assets, subject to margin call and <span>liquidation<\/span> mechanisms designed to maintain collateral coverage,\u201d <\/strong>in its quarterly attestations.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Thorn, head of firmwide research at Galaxy, stated in December 2025 that Tether was \u201cthe largest centralized finance (CeFi) lender in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/a-quick-introduction-to-crypto\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">crypto<\/a>, with a loan book exceeding $14 billion,\u201d framing these activities as part of a diversification strategy from the company\u2019s U.S. Treasuries income.<\/p>\n<div
