Asset management firm Bitwise shared data on social media platform X on May 8 showing 24 major financial institutions active in <span>crypto<\/span>. The chart spans trading, custody, private funds, exchange-traded products, payments, and tokenization across banks, asset managers, exchanges, and payment networks.<\/p>\n<p> <span>Crypto<\/span> exchange-traded products (ETPs) have become the broadest point of entry. Bank of America now provides Merrill wealth management clients access to spot <span>bitcoin<\/span> ETPs, reflecting client demand for regulated exposure. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/vanguard-cracks-open-crypto-access-with-expansive-btc-eth-xrp-sol-etf-listings\/\">Vanguard<\/a> also allows brokerage clients to trade <span>crypto<\/span> ETPs after previously blocking <span>bitcoin ETFs<\/span>. Blackrock, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, Morgan Stanley, UBS, and Wells Fargo are also listed in the ETP category.<\/p>\n<p>Bitwise wrote on X on May 8:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBanks and <span>crypto<\/span>: better together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Institutional infrastructure extends beyond investment access. BNY Mellon has integrated digital asset custody into core infrastructure, while Deutsche Bank has expanded into custody services through a partnership with Taurus. Cboe, Charles Schwab, CME Group, DBS, Deutsche B\u00f6rse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Interactive Brokers, and the London Stock Exchange support trading venues, listed products, custody, or market infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h2>Tokenization and Payments Reshape Institutional <span>Crypto<\/span> Use<\/h2>\n<p>Tokenization appears across many listed firms. Blackrock uses its BUIDL fund to move institutional <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-is-liquidity\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">liquidity<\/a> on-chain, while Franklin Templeton records fund activity on public <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-is-a-blockchain\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blockchains<\/a>. Citi Token Services, JPMorgan\u2019s Kinexys, HSBC Orion, UBS uMINT, and Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale FORGE show how banks are testing blockchain-based settlement and asset issuance.<\/p>\n<p>Crypto-enabled payments are concentrated among global banks and card networks. Citi, BNY Mellon, DBS, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, JPMorgan Chase, Mastercard, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale, UBS, and Visa are marked in that column. Visa has explored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-are-stablecoins\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stablecoin<\/a> settlement infrastructure, while Mastercard developed its Multi-Token Network for blockchain-based financial services.
