James Comer announced the launch of a probe to assess the measures that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-are-prediction-markets\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prediction market<\/a> platforms are taking to fight insider trading.<\/p>\n<p>Comer, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent letters to Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan and Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour requesting a series of documents to verify the measures these platforms are taking against these processes, their internal discussion on the subject, and the different know-your-customer (KYC) measures these platforms are implementing.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-launches-investigation-into-insider-trading-on-prediction-market-platforms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stated<\/a> that the committee was \u201cexamining the adequacy of company safeguards to prevent access to offshore sites to circumvent compliance with applicable U.S. federal regulations governing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-are-prediction-markets\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prediction market<\/a> platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The probe follows a series of reports <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/nine-polymarket-accounts-flagged-after-98-win-rate-on-iran-strikes\/\">linking<\/a> over 80 Polymarket users to insider trading after \u201csuspiciously timed bets\u201d before military actions were taken against Iran, and Kyle Langford\u2019s $200 wager on his own California race using Kalshi.<\/p>\n<p>During a recent interview on CNBC, Comer stressed the need for regulations in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-are-prediction-markets\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prediction market<\/a> space, calling it the \u201cWild West.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cIt\u2019s the wild west.
