Prosecutors unsealed charges accusing Gong of importing synthetic cathinones into Georgia and pursuing larger shipments through the Port of Savannah.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe United States is seeking forfeiture of <span>cryptocurrency<\/span> seized during the investigation through both the criminal indictment and a recently unsealed civil forfeiture case.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Federal investigators tied 1.00001188 <span>bitcoin<\/span> to the government\u2019s civil forfeiture action through a complaint filed on April 15, 2026. The complaint says the <span>BTC<\/span> was seized from Binance account number 53514319, which investigators identified as controlled by Gong. Federal agents obtained a seizure warrant on Dec. 19, 2023. Binance transferred the <span>bitcoin<\/span> to the Drug Enforcement Administration in March and April 2024. The filing says the account used an email address, phone number, and Chinese identification documents linked to Gong.<\/p>\n<p> <span>Blockchain<\/span> analysis helped investigators connect alleged drug orders, exchange accounts, and undercover purchases. Investigators also reviewed Coinbase records and traced direct and indirect flows involving Binance, Coinbase, Huobi, OKX, Cashapp, Coinpayments, and other platforms. The records linked digital payments to packages of controlled substances.<\/p>\n<h2> <span>Blockchain<\/span> Records Frame the Government\u2019s Evidence Trail<\/h2>\n<p>Undercover agents used <span>bitcoin<\/span> to test the alleged supply chain. On March 28, 2023, an undercover DEA agent sent 0.18092382 <span>BTC<\/span>, valued in the filing at about $4,868.59, after Gong quoted $1,000 per kilogram for five kilograms of eutylone. Agents later retrieved a package in the Savannah Division that contained about 5.20 kilograms of suspected eutylone. A forensic chemist confirmed about 4.9855 kilograms of N,N-dimethylpentylone. A second undercover purchase on June 20, 2023, used 0.03589067 <span>BTC<\/span> for one kilogram.<\/p>\n<p>The <span>cryptocurrency<\/span> trail extended beyond the undercover buys. The complaint says Gong\u2019s Binance account logged 666 <span>BTC<\/span> transactions between October 2020 and July 2023. It also lists 19 buys worth about $254,281.85 and 204 sells worth about $2.33 million. Separate Whatsapp messages allegedly showed Gong using the same <span>BTC<\/span> address and accepting payment in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en\/price\/bitcoin\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bitcoin<\/a>. China\u2019s Ministry of Public Security confirmed Chinese authorities coordinated with U.S. agencies after investigators shared intelligence through official law enforcement channels.<\/p>\n<p>Federal prosecutors added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cGong\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/a-quick-introduction-to-crypto\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cryptocurrency<\/a> records indicate he engaged in millions of dollars in transactions during the time of the scheme.
