In a Friday customer notice seen by iGaming.org, the UK-based digital banking platform said users will no longer be able to buy USDT from July 6.

The full delisting will follow on Aug. 31, 2026. Users can sell or withdraw USDT before that deadline. After that date, Revolut said it will automatically convert remaining balances into each user base currency at the daily exchange rate.

Deposits face an earlier cutoff. Revolut said it will stop supporting incoming USDT transfers after July 30, 2026. Any USDT sent after that date will be rejected.

The company pointed to “regulatory and risk considerations” as the reason, but it has not named the exact rule or market that triggered the decision. Revolut also has not confirmed whether the delisting applies worldwide or only in certain jurisdictions.

MiCA Context Sits Behind The USDT Exit

The decision fits a wider pattern in Europe. Coinbase began removing certain stablecoins for European Economic Area users in 2024 as the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, known as MiCA, reached full application.

MiCA created new rules for crypto asset service providers and stablecoin issuers. It also pushed platforms to reassess coins that do not meet EU compliance standards. Revolut received a MiCA crypto asset service provider license through Cyprus, with CySEC as the issuing regulator, according to public register information.

Tether has not taken the same MiCA path. The company refused to comply with the EU framework for USDT, and CEO Paolo Ardoino has criticized parts of the rulebook. He has focused in particular on reserve requirements that can require certain stablecoin issuers to hold part of their reserves with EU credit institutions.

That position has left USDT in a weaker place on regulated European platforms, even though it remains the largest dollar stablecoin by market use. For fintech users, the practical effect is simple: platforms with EU-facing crypto licenses have less room to keep offering assets that fall outside their risk model.

Source link

(Originally posted on : Crypto News – iGaming.org ) Revolut has told some crypto users that Tether USDt will leave its platform in August, adding another major fintech name to the list of companies cutting USDT access under tighter crypto rules.
