The deal included a capital injection and the purchase of shares from existing investors.<\/p>\n<p>SBI said it received the necessary approvals from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbigroup.co.jp\/news\/2026\/0717_16491.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">official statement<\/a>. Coinhako will now become a consolidated subsidiary of the group.<\/p>\n<h2>Singapore Becomes Central to SBI\u2019s Asia Strategy<\/h2>\n<p>The acquisition gives SBI access to Coinhako\u2019s customer base, regional network and experience operating within Singapore\u2019s regulated digital asset market.<\/p>\n<p>SBI has identified Singapore as a major hub for its broader Asia-Pacific strategy. The company aims to build connections between digital asset platforms in Japan and Southeast Asia while developing cross-border trading services.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman and President Yoshitaka Kitao said the group wants to create a global digital asset corridor enabling investors to move across markets without being limited by currencies or national borders. He said SBI\u2019s financial resources and business network would support Coinhako\u2019s expansion across Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n<h2>Stablecoins and Tokenization Drive Expansion<\/h2>\n<p>SBI plans to explore services involving tokenization, <span>stablecoins<\/span>, on-chain finance and international digital asset transactions. The company also expects Coinhako to work with its existing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/a-quick-introduction-to-crypto\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">crypto<\/a> infrastructure and financial businesses.<\/p>\n<p>One potential area of cooperation is JPYSC, a trust-based yen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-are-stablecoins\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stablecoin<\/a> being developed by SBI and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/what-is-a-blockchain\/\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blockchain<\/a> infrastructure company Startale.<\/p>\n<p>The Coinhako deal follows a series of digital asset investments by SBI. In June, the group agreed to acquire Japanese <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/new-crypto-giant-sbis-bitbank-deal-could-create-japans-largest-crypto-exchange\/\">crypto exchange Bitbank<\/a> for nearly $289 million.<\/p>\n<p>SBI has also partnered with the <a href=\"https:\/\/markets.bitcoin.com\/crypto\/solana?utm_source=bitcoin_news\" class=\"lar_link lar_link_outgoing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Solana<\/a> Foundation to support an on-chain financial market in Japan.
