Saudi state media confirmed the Encelia caught fire while transiting the Red Sea. All crew members were reported safe.<\/p>\n<p>The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/two-tankers-carrying-saudi-crude-make-u-turns-red-sea-after-houthi-warning-2026-07-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">explained that a tanker was struck<\/a> about 70 nautical miles southwest of Al Shuqaiq. Five Saudi tankers had already diverted course in the days before the strikes, following Houthi warnings.<\/p>\n<p>These were the first confirmed ship attacks outside the immediate area of the Strait of Hormuz since the war intensified. The Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait carry an estimated 12% to 15% of global maritime trade, worth more than $1 trillion a year.
