When this ETH whale, <a href=\"https:\/\/whale-alert.io\/transaction\/ethereum\/0x8d7f4886b2978c163fa0a8b742b2da8e90008e614162ad1864bda1108848b356\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spotted by Whale Alert on Tuesday<\/a>, finally moved 2,680 coins, ether traded at $1,883.66 per unit, transforming the original $830 bet into a cool $5 million.<\/p>\n<p>But this ETH holder wasn\u2019t the only Genesis-era whale making noise in August 2026. Whale Alert also caught a pre-mine holder springing into action on Aug. 8, 2026, moving 2,000 ETH worth a hefty $3.8 million. The onchain parser noted on its Telegram channel that the same ETH stash was worth a measly $620 back in 2015. <a href=\"https:\/\/arkm.com\/explorer\/tx\/0xb4968b5ffc9772241d23b4e8e741616cd531a3a1fbc0178fae5381c3a19b5a3c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arkham Intelligence data<\/a> shows that particular ETH stash ultimately landed at Coinbase.<\/p>\n<h2>Ethereum\u2019s Pre-Mine<\/h2>\n<p>When Ethereum\u2019s creators <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/ethereum-explained-a-beginners-guide\/\">first carved out the network<\/a>, they pre-mined roughly 72 million ETH before the blockchain even went live. They didn\u2019t keep the whole pile, either; roughly 60 million ETH went to buyers through a massive public crowdsale, essentially an initial coin offering (ICO), that helped bankroll Ethereum\u2019s launch. The 42-day crowdsale ultimately pulled in a whopping 31,591 BTC from early ethereum buyers.<\/p>\n<p>That left roughly 12 million ETH in the saddlebags for insiders, split straight down the middle: 6 million went to Ethereum\u2019s founders and early contributors, while another 6 million landed with the Ethereum Foundation.<\/p>\n<h2>July logs 2 Genesis ETH Awakenings<\/h2>\n<p>The onchain parser Whale Alert also caught two more Genesis-era ETH wallets springing to life in July, moving 2,000 ETH apiece. One stash was shifted on July 20, while the other followed on July 26. One of those transfers landed at Australia-based crypto exchange Coinjar, while the other was chopped up and scattered across several ETH wallets.<\/p>\n<p>These repeated awakenings among early ETH and <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/featured\/dormant-bitcoin-erupts-as-10-august-days-blow-past-all-of-july\/\">BTC holders are getting harder to ignore<\/a>. Wallets that survived a decade of brutal price swings, exchange blowups and forgotten keys are now stirring in clusters rather than isolation, raising the question of whether some early holders are watching the same market signals and deciding the time has finally come.<\/p>\n<p>Whether driven by estate planning, custody changes, or old-fashioned profit-taking after riding through ether\u2019s ugliest years, these movements keep putting supposedly frozen supply back into play and into two exchanges, according to Arkham\u2019s explorer.
