Bitcoin and digital assets <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/bitcoin-quantum-computing-debate-reignites-after-government-alert\/\">have been involved in the conversation<\/a> for quite some time, and the Treasury\u2019s new task force will not only look at traditional finance (TradFi), but also \u201cDigital Assets and Emerging Technology Risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Treasury Department explicitly mentions President Trump\u2019s Executive Order (EO) 14412, and the press release claims that the new task force is dedicated to supporting the EO, which enacts policy to \u201cstrengthen cryptographic protections for America\u2019s sensitive data, critical infrastructure, and digital economy.\u201d The federal agency said that the taskforce will work with a slew of officials, TradFi institutions, public and private sector leaders, and tech providers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerica must lead in securing the technologies that power our economy,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/regulation-and-legal\/bessent-seeks-industry-feedback-to-shape-new-genius-rules\/\">Treasury Secretary Bessent<\/a> explained in the release. \u201cThis Task Force will help ensure our financial system remains strong, secure, and competitive as new technologies reshape the global landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Moody\u2019s Agrees Quantum Readiness Must Take Center Stage<\/h2>\n<p>In a note shared with Bitcoin.com News, Cristiano Ventricelli, the Vice President, Digital Economy Group, Moody\u2019s Ratings, insisted that the U.S. needs to prepare the financial system for the future of quantum computing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Quantum-Readiness Task Force adds a security dimension to the U.S. policy agenda for digital assets, which includes initiatives by the White House, SEC and CFTC to support their use within regulated financial markets,\u201d Ventricelli wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The Moody\u2019s Ratings executive added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cDigital assets are increasingly viewed as strategically relevant to US financial innovation and competitiveness, but advances in quantum computing could eventually weaken the cryptographic protections on which they rely.
