Roughly nine of the top ten crypto assets by market cap are in the green during the morning trading session, and bitcoin\u2019s price tapped an intraday top of around $80,808.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin trading volume stands at $30.87 billion, and the day\u2019s most active BTC exchanges for trading include Binance, Coinbase, and Upbit.<\/p>\n<h2>Crypto Greed Returns as XRP and SOL Lead the Charge<\/h2>\n<p>After last month\u2019s \u201cfear\u201d reading with a score of 29, <a href=\"https:\/\/alternative.me\/crypto\/fear-and-greed-index\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Crypto Fear and Greed Index<\/a> now stands with a score of 72, which equates to \u201cgreed.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_842744\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-842744\" style=\"width:1616px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-842744\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Crypto Fear and Greed Index hosted on alternative.me on Aug. 27, 2026.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/market-updates\/bitcoin-price-reclaims-79000-as-open-interest-hits-140b\/\">In addition to BTC\u2019s rise<\/a>, ETH jumped 3.33%, BNB ripped 2.5%, XRP logged a much larger 6% jump, and SOL has gained more than 12% during the past day. Thursday\u2019s largest gainers include PROM, NPC, VET, and TRUMP, which saw percentage gains between 19.71% and 30.42%.<\/p>\n<h2>Short Sellers Get Crushed as $409 Million in Bets Vanish<\/h2>\n<p>ONG, STX, RVN, and POL recorded the day\u2019s biggest losses between -3.68% to -20.36%. Today\u2019s surge in crypto asset values has caused $409.07 million in derivatives plays to be liquidated. Short traders were hurt the most as $280.05 million out of the total happened to be short bets.<\/p>\n<p>A large sum of 89,215 leveraged traders lost their shirts over the last day, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinglass.com\/liquidations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to coinglass.com liquidation statistics<\/a>. While some of the rally is attributed to the U.S. Treasury\u2019s bond buyback announcement, a great deal of the lift is also <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/bitcoin-etf\/blackrock-captures-322-79m-as-bitcoin-ether-etfs-add-424m\/\">coming from exchange-traded fund (ETF) inflows<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>ETF Inflows Fuel the Rally, but Prediction Markets Stay Cautious<\/h2>\n<p>Statistics show that U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs logged an eighth straight inflow session on August 26 with about $232 million of net creations. The combination of strong institutional participation plus the debasement trade has fueled bitcoin prices, and where it leads next is anyone\u2019s guess.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/price-predictions\/bitcoin-price-eyes-100k-as-prediction-markets-wall-street-weigh-in\/\">Wall Street analysts are optimistic<\/a> alongside diehard proponents, but prediction market bettors are a lot more cautious.
