The purchase brings Strategy\u2019s total holdings to 845,050 BTC, reinforcing its position as the largest publicly traded corporate holder of bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/crypto-news\/were-back-michael-saylor-hints-strategy-may-buy-bitcoin-again\/\">followed Saylor\u2019s \u201cWe\u2019re \u20bfack\u201d post Sunday<\/a>, a familiar weekend signal that another Strategy purchase could be coming. Monday\u2019s disclosure confirmed the company had returned to the market with nearly $370 million in fresh bitcoin buying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrategy has acquired 4,603 BTC for $370M, increased USD Cash by $29M, and repurchased $152M of STRC. As of 8\/30\/26, we hold 845,050 BTC and $6.71B of USD Assets, bringing Net Leverage to 0.0%,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/saylor\/status\/2094395804962152885?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saylor wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Strategy Pairs Bitcoin Buy With $152M STRC Repurchase<\/h2>\n<p>The transaction was not limited to bitcoin. Strategy also increased its U.S. dollar cash position by $29 million and repurchased $152 million of STRC, one of the preferred securities the company uses as part of its increasingly complex capital structure.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/saylor\/status\/2094395806879019172?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saylor also explained<\/a> that Strategy now has a $5.10 billion U.S. dollar reserve and $1.61 billion in cash. He added that the moves improved the company\u2019s U.S. dollar duration to four years, up 23 days, while STRC\u2019s BTC credit fell 3 basis points to 56 basis points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese actions further strengthen STRC. USD Reserve is $5.10B and USD Cash is $1.61B, improving USD Duration to 4.0 yrs (+23d) and STRC\u2019s BTC Credit to 56 bps (-3 bps),\u201d Saylor said.<\/p>\n<h2>Strategy\u2019s 2020 Bitcoin Bet Becomes Its Defining Business<\/h2>\n<p>The purchase extends a transformation that began in August 2020, when the company, then known as Microstrategy, spent $250 million on 21,454 BTC. Saylor argued at the time that holding bitcoin offered protection against the long-term erosion of purchasing power in cash.<\/p>\n<p>That initial trade became the centerpiece of <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/featured\/strategy-breaks-down-6-securities-built-around-its-bitcoin\/\">the company\u2019s financial strategy<\/a>. Strategy subsequently tapped equity markets and debt instruments to finance additional bitcoin purchases, steadily turning what had been a business-intelligence software company into a publicly traded vehicle heavily exposed to Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Saylor stepped down as CEO in 2022 and became executive chairman, allowing him to concentrate on the bitcoin strategy while Phong Le took control of day-to-day operations. The company formally rebranded as Strategy in February 2025 and adopted a bitcoin-inspired orange identity.<\/p>\n<h2>845,050 BTC Puts Strategy\u2019s Treasury on a Different Scale<\/h2>\n<p>The latest acquisition raises Strategy\u2019s holdings from roughly 840,447 BTC to 845,050 BTC, representing about 4% of Bitcoin\u2019s maximum 21 million-coin supply. It is by far <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcointreasuries.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the largest bitcoin public treasury on earth<\/a>. That concentration makes every large Strategy purchase closely watched by bitcoin traders, corporate treasury managers and investors in MSTR and the company\u2019s preferred securities.<\/p>\n<p>The next focus will be whether Saylor keeps buying after Monday\u2019s $370 million transaction. Strategy\u2019s expanded cash reserves and 0.0% net leverage leave investors watching its next capital-market moves, additional BTC purchases and any further STRC repurchases as September begins.
