At this stage, raw footage is assembled and polished into a finished movie, allowing producers to kick-start the process of selling and releasing the film to the public.

According to author and podcaster Terence Michael, the $70 million film, which stars Gal Gadot, Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, and Isla Fisher, is directed by Doug Liman, whose past blockbuster credits include The Bourne Identity and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Liman’s profile, along with the producers’ use of artificial intelligence to create the film’s environments, could make the movie titled “Bitcoin” a top-tier project.

While the movie is likely to appeal to mainstream audiences, Michael warns that its depiction of Craig Wright, the self-proclaimed inventor of bitcoin, will likely rile bitcoiners and divide the industry.

“Based on the film’s premise, the movie is going to skew toward Craig Wright being Satoshi. How could he not be Satoshi if a coalition of tech billionaires, governments, and crypto organizations spent hundreds of millions just to discredit him? That will be the narrative,” Michael explained in an X post.

He added that the film’s portrayal will pose a significant challenge to the community’s perspective: “The mainstream public will watch this and accept it as gospel truth, leaving the Bitcoin community forced to constantly play defense against a Hollywood-backed revision of history.”

Reviving Past Controversies

As previously reported by Bitcoin.com News, production of the film, written by Nick Schenk and produced by Ryan Kavanaugh and Lawrence Grey, commenced toward the end of February. By promoting Wright’s past claims of being bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, the film appears on course to revive an old controversy that seemingly subsided after a U.K. court ruling rejected the claim. Later, Wright’s website added a notice clarifying that he was in fact not Satoshi Nakamoto.

Besides the script, the involvement of Calvin Ayre, a known supporter and promoter of Wright’s assertion, lends credence to the theory that supporters of the computer scientist are using Hollywood A-listers to circumvent the court ruling. Reflecting on Ayre’s involvement with the film’s production, Michael wrote:

“So although a huge budget with A-list stars… it’s really an indie movie made by Calvin Ayre about Craig Wright. As of this post, there’s no major domestic distributor outside of some international sales.”

Predictably, Michael’s post sparked an immediate wave of skepticism and debate within the crypto community. While many expressed frustration over Hollywood giving a platform to long-debunked claims, others pushed back, urging industry insiders to fund a competing film that properly honors Satoshi Nakamoto’s real legacy.

Hero image credit: Bitcoin Movie

Source link

(Originally posted on : Bitcoin News ) Key Takeaways Director Doug Liman’s $70 million movie titled Bitcoin entered post-production in 2026.
