So who knows, in the next bull run it could happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The prediction would require a dramatic increase in the bitcoin price. Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego estimates that matching gold\u2019s total market value would put bitcoin at roughly $1.86 million per BTC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is still very early,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RicardoBSalinas\/status\/2095623832983797935?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Salinas wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>CZ Says National Reserves Could Change the Bitcoin-Gold Race<\/h2>\n<p>For CZ, the bigger catalyst is sovereign adoption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf bitcoin becomes a strategic reserve asset for nations, does it eventually become more important than gold? For sure,\u201d he said. \u201cI think Bitcoin will for sure become more important than gold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The obstacle, he argued, is institutional inertia rather than bitcoin itself.<\/p>\n<p>Central banks and governments already have mature systems for valuing, storing, and managing gold. Rebuilding those processes around <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/price-predictions\/bitcoin-price-could-reach-250k-840k-if-wall-street-allocations-grow\/\">bitcoin or other crypto assets<\/a> could take years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor them to shift into bitcoin will take some time,\u201d CZ said. \u201cBut it will happen. And bitcoin is just a much better asset than gold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He sees only one meaningful threat to that thesis: another digital asset surpassing bitcoin before it catches gold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a very small chance something better than bitcoin takes over,\u201d CZ said, adding that current evidence suggests the probability is quite small.<\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin Is Already Starting to Trade More Like Gold<\/h2>\n<p>Market behavior is beginning to support part of that argument.<\/p>\n<p>Glassnode data shows bitcoin\u2019s 90-day correlation with gold has climbed to about 0.57, from 0.21 in March. Meanwhile, its correlation with the Nasdaq-100 has fallen to 0.22 from 0.57. Other estimates put the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/opinion-and-analysis\/cathie-wood-sees-bitcoin-price-breakthrough-as-gold-link-strengthens\/\">bitcoin-gold correlation<\/a> near 0.59, its highest level since 2020.<\/p>\n<p>That shift matters because bitcoin has historically traded more like a high-risk technology asset during periods of market stress. A stronger relationship with gold could suggest investors are increasingly treating BTC as a monetary hedge rather than simply another speculative crypto trade.<\/p>\n<p>For investors, the stakes are enormous. Gold parity would imply a bitcoin price far above any previous cycle target.<\/p>\n<p>CZ\u2019s forecast remains highly speculative.
