On Monday, the official X account disclosed the information concerning the breach. \u201cA malicious user has likely gained access to Swiss Bitcoin Pay\u2019s internal systems. As a precaution, we are temporarily shutting down our servers while we investigate and secure our infrastructure,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SwissBitcoinPay\/status\/2099473448162488618?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Swiss Bitcoin Pay wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The team then explained that they think the user may have \u201caccessed customer email addresses, Bitcoin addresses and IBANs, transaction history, and hashed passwords.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Crypto Industry Faces a Wave of Data Breaches<\/h2>\n<p>The news comes as 2026 has seen a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/interview\/nexus-id-breach-exposes-a-blueprint-for-fraud-experts-warn\/\">tidal wave of data breaches<\/a> in the crypto industry, and this week\u2019s Revolut incident. According to the reports, Revolut responded to a government-agency email domain that was operated by a malicious operator.<\/p>\n<p>Revolut <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/security\/revolut-leaks-customer-data-to-hackers-posing-as-state-agency\/\">reportedly revealed<\/a> home address info, emails, phone numbers, passport or driver\u2019s license copies, verification selfies, and IBANs. Alongside this, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/security\/trezor-data-leak-spirals-as-67000-more-us-buyers-get-exposed\/\">data breaches struck Trezor<\/a>, Pocket Bitcoin, Bits of Gold, and Safepal. Swiss Bitcoin Pay said that user funds were \u201csafe\u201d and that \u201cany amounts owed to users will be fully returned.\u201d The team added that they did not know when they would reopen again, but were working on it.<\/p>\n<p>Customers and users of any of these companies that have suffered data breaches should assume that their personal information, emails, phone numbers, and home addresses are likely known.
