At Jackson Hole, Warsh had already warned:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We must be confident that underlying inflation is moving to our objective, clearly and at sufficient speed. Otherwise, we have work to do.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In this regard, personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation is running at 3.7% while oil has pushed back above $100 a barrel. Markets have followed the banks, with the CME Fedwatch tool putting September hike odds at 87.3%, up from 61.9% at the end of August. The federal funds target currently sits at <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/crypto-news\/goldman-fed-rate-hike-september-bitcoin-golden-cross\/\">3.50% to 3.75%<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin maxi Anthony Pompliano, however, is not on board with the banks and posted that ideally \u201cthe Federal Reserve should NOT raise interest rates,\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/APompliano\/status\/2099627786453352632\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">take that drew substantial public backing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Where Bitcoin Sits Amidst All This Chatter<\/h2>\n<p>The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) starts its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/monetarypolicy\/fomccalendars.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">two-day meeting<\/a> on Sept. 15, the same day as the Senate\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/regulation-and-legal\/whats-new-in-the-final-clarity-act-ahead-of-the-senate-vote\/\">CLARITY Act cloture vote<\/a>, with the rate decision due on Sept. 16. In all of this, crypto seems to be heading in hot, with bitcoin crossing $79,000 yesterday as more than <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WatcherGuru\/status\/2099595487544304007\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$100 million in shorts<\/a> were liquidated in 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>However, since then the asset\u2019s price has slipped back to about $77,000, with many analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Trader_XO\/status\/2099621522084159699\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">flagging $79,500 to $80,000 as a key area<\/a> where selling pressure should build.
