Center, where the University of Louisville men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball teams play home games. The placement is part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/gocards.com\/news\/2026\/9\/15\/general-louisville-athletics-announces-strategic-brand-partnership-with-ripple\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">multiyear sponsorship agreement between Louisville Athletics and Ripple<\/a> announced Sept. 15, which also gives XRP visibility across both basketball programs through additional arena, broadcast, and digital branding.<\/p>\n<p>The new branding will coexist with the court\u2019s existing tribute to former Louisville coach Denny Crum, whose insignia will remain inside the 3-point arc. XRP will also appear on television-visible courtside signage, other KFC Yum! Center placements and promotions, Louisville\u2019s digital and social platforms, and radio broadcasts for both basketball programs.<\/p>\n<p>Louisville Vice President and Director of Athletics Josh Heird described Ripple\u2019s selection of the program as deliberate. Earlier this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/crypto-news\/xrp-branding-hits-florida-field-in-reported-5m-annual-ripple-deal\/\">XRP branding reached Florida field<\/a> under a multiyear agreement between Ripple and Florida Athletics that reportedly generates $5 million annually.<\/p>\n<p>That Florida sponsorship puts XRP branding on the field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium while also incorporating finance and technology education. Louisville takes a similar approach but concentrates the most prominent permanent branding on basketball, where the XRP logo will appear directly on the playing surface during home games.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple\u2019s college sports expansion began moving onto team uniforms earlier this summer. A July agreement with Kansas Athletics put <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/ripple-brings-xrp-to-jayhawk-uniforms-in-first-major-college-crypto-jersey-sponsorship\/\">XRP branding on Jayhawk uniforms<\/a> across the university\u2019s athletic program. Ripple described that deal as the first cryptocurrency sponsorship to appear on the jersey of a major college athletics program.<\/p>\n<p>The sequence gives XRP several distinct forms of college sports exposure: uniforms at Kansas, football field branding at Florida, and permanent basketball court placement at Louisville.<\/p>\n<h2>XRP Deal Adds to Ripple\u2019s University Strategy<\/h2>\n<p>XRP is the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger, or XRPL, and is separate from Ripple, the technology company. Ripple\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ripple.com\/xrp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">XRP overview<\/a> describes the asset as supporting payments, liquidity, and other financial applications, while XRPL operates as an open-source blockchain designed to settle transactions within seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The Louisville deal puts XRP itself in front of fans during basketball games. The XRP Ledger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoin.com\/get-started\/blockchain-tech\/layer-1s\/what-is-ripple-xrp-ledger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">uses XRP as its native digital asset for transactions<\/a> and liquidity across the network.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple has also spent years developing relationships with universities outside sports sponsorships. Through its University Blockchain Research Initiative, the company said in October 2025 that it had supported more than 60 universities worldwide and committed more than $80 million to academic research since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>That program expanded with a University of San Francisco partnership and renewed university funding.
