The price was up more than 300% in a day, trimming its yearly losses to 12%.<\/p>\n<p>No other details about Assange\u2019s return were known at the time of writing. His sister, Stella Assange, confirmed that Julian\u2019s official account was back and said more news was expected next week.<\/p>\n<h2>Huge Rally, Microscopic Volume<\/h2>\n<p>AssangeDAO was formed in 2022 to fund Assange\u2019s legal defense, raising 16,593 EdaoTH (around $53 million at the time) to bid on a one-of-one NFT made by digital artist Pak in collaboration with Assange. The money was then used by the Wau Holland Foundation, which paid Assange\u2019s legal costs.<\/p>\n<p>Despite today\u2019s rally, the JUSTICE token is still down 97% from its all-time high. However, the rally was also fueled by the token\u2019s negligible trading volume, which stood at around $600 over the previous 24 hours before the rally. At the time of writing, volume had jumped above $90,000, although it remained minuscule. Meanwhile, the AssangeDAO X account also broke a one-year silence by welcoming Assange.<\/p>\n<p>A similar sharp rally in JUSTICE\u2019s price was reported by Bitcoin.com News in June 2024, when Assange was released from a U.K. prison. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/assangedaos-justice-token-surges-and-dips-amid-julian-assanges-release\/\">The rally was short-lived<\/a>, ending in double-digit losses.<\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin ties<\/h2>\n<p>In either case, multiple bitcoiners welcomed the Wikileaks founder, who was instrumental in Bitcoin adoption, on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was taken out for exposing MIC, FIC &amp; TIC. Bitcoin kept @wikileaks alive. &amp; now he\u2019s back. Welcome,\u201d wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SimonDixonTwitt\/status\/2100596891503276396\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Simon Dixon, an early bitcoin investor<\/a>, entrepreneur and author.<\/p>\n<p>In late 2010, after Wikileaks published U.S. diplomatic cables, major financial services companies such as Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, and Bank of America all cut off the organization from receiving donations. In 2011, Wikileaks turned to bitcoin for donations, despite its creator Satoshi Nakamoto asking it not to use the cryptocurrency at the time.
