In another update, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/blinkbtc\/status\/2101342221455052898?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blink later disclosed<\/a> that a \u201cfew dozen custodial accounts were affected by the incident.\u201d No monetary amount was mentioned, but Blink promises that \u201cevery affected account is identified and will be made whole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The news comes as a wave of bugs, exploits, and data breaches have been affecting digital currency businesses and Lightning Network-specific applications. For instance, Btcpay Server <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/security\/bitcoin-lightning-nodes-hit-as-btcpay-signals-emergency-2-4-2-fix\/\">had a critical bug<\/a> that reportedly let a remote attacker read LND macaroon files, Lightning Development Kit (LDK) <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/security\/core-lightning-team-sounds-the-alarm-as-ai-uncovers-critical-flaws\/\">disclosed it had two bugs<\/a> and told users to upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>The non-custodial swap service Boltz also had issues it <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/crypto-news\/ai-attack-freezes-boltz-rattles-lightning-network-users\/\">disclosed on Aug. 3, 2026<\/a>. The platform\u2019s team explained that \u201cattackers now iterate faster than a team our size can find and patch.\u201d The Boltz shutdown caused issues for providers like Aqua, Bull Bitcoin, and Zeus. Following the issues with Boltz, Aqua launched Indra, its own Liquid\u2013Lightning swap stack.<\/p>\n<h2>Attack Path Remains Unknown as Blink Works to Restore Service<\/h2>\n<p>Blink\u2019s latest update was posted at 12:06 p.m. ET on Saturday, and there has not been an update or post-mortem since then. The attack path is also unpublished, and users do not know exactly how the incident occurred. Until a post-mortem lands, anyone claiming a specific exploit is guessing. Many people asked Blink\u2019s X account direct questions about the problem. One user asked how people would know if they are affected, and one person said they needed access to funds fast for funeral arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease, approximately how long will it take to be working normally? I need to make some urgent funeral payments,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/enocsantiagos\/status\/2101343471961272825?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the user wrote on Blink\u2019s thread<\/a>.
