Institutions took BTC from punk rock to Muzak, and advocates went from pirates to suits in orange ties, awkwardly sharing cringe memes. If Bitcoin were going to reach mass adoption and an important use case, it does better than anyone else, it would have by now.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The thread closed with a string of analogies, comparing bitcoin to CDs in the age of Spotify, as well as a DVD in the age of Netflix.<\/p>\n<h2>The Replies Came Quick<\/h2>\n<p>Strategy\u2019s top man, Michael Saylor, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/saylor\/status\/2101079324400963734\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">answered three hours later<\/a>, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Jason, you\u2019ve watched bitcoin grow since 2011. It\u2019s now a $1.6 trillion success and the world\u2019s most valuable digital asset. Preserving wealth across generations is a bigger ambition than entertaining a dinner party. The orange tie stays.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The tie line drew more than 7,600 likes, about 4.6 times the original post. Saylor\u2019s firm holds 845,050 BTC, so the \u201csuits in orange ties\u201d jab was never going to go unanswered.<\/p>\n<p>Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Invest, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CathieDWood\/status\/2101107549814620659\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">joined in on the party<\/a> but kept her response sharp but curt. \u201cBitcoin is not a dead cat, Jason! It has many lives ahead,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CathieDWood\/status\/2101107549814620659\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wood replied<\/a>, before plugging Ark\u2019s latest Bitcoin Brainstorm session on artificial intelligence (AI) and bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, investor Fred Krueger went further, claiming that bitcoin has turned the corner. \u201cThis is not a dead cat bounce,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/dotkrueger\/status\/2101170773985734921\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Krueger posted<\/a>, arguing the last bull market started in December 2022 and ended 11 months ago at 7.3x.<\/p>\n<h2>What the Chart Leaves Out<\/h2>\n<p>Calacanis\u2019 screenshot is accurate as far as it goes, as bitcoin\u2019s price sits near $81,079, roughly 36% below its $126,080 peak from October 2025. However, the \u201cboring\u201d label is harder to square with the flow data.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WuBlockchain\/status\/2101163144521605216\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pulled in $433 million<\/a> yesterday, with Fidelity\u2019s FBTC taking $311 million and Blackrock\u2019s IBIT $108 million. That was the same day as the dead cat post.<\/p>\n<p>There is also Calacanis\u2019 own track record this year. In March, Bitcoin.com News covered Calacanis\u2019 case that <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/early-uber-investor-jason-calacanis-predicts-200x-tao-rally\/\">Bittensor\u2019s TAO could deliver a 200x rally<\/a> from a $2.5 billion market cap. TAO closed at $336.60 on March 24 on Binance and trades near $262 today, down over 20%.<\/p>\n<p>None of that settles the adoption argument, which was the real point of the post.
