Brown was a key opponent of crypto regulation as Senate Banking chair until <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/anti-crypto-senator-ousted-ohio-rejects-crypto-public-enemy-for-new-era\/\">he lost his seat<\/a> in 2024 to Republican Bernie Moreno, who was active in developing the now-failed CLARITY Act.<\/p>\n<p>Brown has recently moderated his stance on crypto, declaring that he believed the industry had a role to play in the U.S. future. <strong>\u201cCrypto has a part, a role, in our economy. They do. They likely will for a lot of years to come. I don\u2019t have great interest in going beyond that for now,\u201d<\/strong> he stressed in a recent interview.<\/p>\n<p>The group is ready to deploy $30 million on this task, 25% of its $120 million war chest, in aggressive campaign spending through ads and mail, aiming to move the needle against Brown, who lost in 2024 by 4% but is expected to perform better due to the low popularity of the Trump Administration right before the midterms.<\/p>\n<p>While high, the figure is less than what Fairshake invested in 2024 to unseat Brown, with the number reaching $40 million. Fairshake is being funded by three major crypto industry institutions: Coinbase, Ripple, and A16z, and other minority donors.<\/p>\n<p>Fairshake states that it \u201csupports candidates committed to securing the United States as the home to innovators building the next generation of the internet,\u201d without disclosing a political party affiliation. Now, analysts expect it to focus its spending against Democrats, who opposed the CLARITY bill en masse due to lax ethical provisions.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, stopping Brown from returning to the Senate might have unintended consequences for the crypto industry.
