The developer added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHistory made on mainnet: the first atomic cross-chain L1-&gt;L2 transaction ever. And this is only the beginning for EEZ.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Basically, <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/tx\/0xd0cbfef7df37b362839d7bf91a91bccc09b1510625919b7bcdaa291153920a02\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EEZ moved 0.001 ETH<\/a> and updated a rollup in the same all-or-nothing operation, an action often dubbed \u201catomic.\u201d It should be noted that EEZ\u2019s transfer was a technical demo and not a finished product or an <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/ethereum-explained-a-beginners-guide\/\">Ethereum protocol<\/a> upgrade. Before the transfer took place, there was an audit, live blob encoding, and tests against Cow Swap and Uniswap v4.<\/p>\n<h2>One Ethereum Ecosystem, Without Fragmented Capital<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eez.io\/blog\/introducing-the-eez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EEZ is a project<\/a> designed to fully connect Ethereum\u2019s separate offshoot networks, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/the-scalability-solution-understanding-layer-one-vs-layer-two-blockchains\/\">known as L2s<\/a>, while combining their fragmented pools of capital into a single, shared ecosystem. Backed by the Ethereum Foundation and led by groups including Gnosis and Zisk, the initiative launched in early 2026. EEZ initiatives are designed to reduce fragmentation between Ethereum\u2019s main chain and its growing collection of L2 networks.<\/p>\n<h2>A Major Technical Step, but the Hard Work Is Not Finished<\/h2>\n<p>Jakub Gregus, co-founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/unlocking-the-future-your-fun-guide-to-decentralized-finance-and-web3\/\">decentralized finance (DeFi)<\/a> protocol Hydration, explained on X that this can help Ethereum a great deal. \u201cI told you couple months ago I am becoming increasingly bullish on Ethereum as technology,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GregusJakub\/status\/2107175235888062595?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gregus remarked<\/a>, re-posting Antu\u00f1a D\u00edez\u2019s X post. \u201cThis is insane.
