The system lets an agent open a USDC-funded payment channel, authorize individual requests offchain, then settle the combined total with one onchain transaction.<\/p>\n<p>BlockrunAI is already using the technology in production across its AI-model routing service.<\/p>\n<p>The company says batching multiple model calls into a single USDC settlement will save it more than $20,000 per month in network fees while cutting latency by roughly 10x.<\/p>\n<h2>AI Agents Get a Different Kind of Payment Rail<\/h2>\n<p>The significance lies in how machines transact.<\/p>\n<p>A human might make a handful of payments each day. An <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/security\/web3-firms-urged-to-treat-ai-agents-as-workforce-members\/\">autonomous AI agent<\/a> could potentially pay for data, compute, APIs, or model calls hundreds of times in minutes. One settlement.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Solana Is Also Cutting Block Times in Half<\/h2>\n<p>The launch arrives as Solana prepares another major performance upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Anza said Solana\u2019s final slot-time reduction to 200 milliseconds is expected to go live around 15:00 UTC on Oct. 9, completing a progression from 400ms to 350ms, 300ms, 250ms and finally 200ms.<\/p>\n<p>Faster slots, combined with batched settlement, could make <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/blockchain\/jpmorgan-lends-expertise-solana-atomic-settlement-program\/\">Solana more attractive for applications<\/a> where payment speed is part of the user experience rather than an afterthought.<\/p>\n<h2>The Next Test Is Recurring Demand<\/h2>\n<p>The technology is promising, but production economics matter more than launch-day attention.<\/p>\n<p>Blockchain analyst Bella Blockstar noted that batch payments are \u201cmore than a demo\u201d but argued the real test will be whether recurring usage follows.<\/p>\n<p>That is the right benchmark.<\/p>\n<p>If autonomous agents increasingly pay for software, compute and data themselves, crypto rails will need to process machine-speed transactions cheaply and invisibly.
