Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio told Bloomberg on Oct. 6 that the U.S. could face a debt crisis within three years<\/a> as interest payments crowd out the rest of the federal budget.<\/p>\n

Dalio is probably the most legitimate and logical doomer out there. While it\u2019s hard to time a debt crisis and create an actionable investment thesis for it, there\u2019s no denying that the US\u2019 spending problem is getting out of control. The US government also violated Ferguson\u2019s Law in 2024, which states that any country that spends more on debt servicing than military expenses risks a fiscal crisis and the loss of its global influence.<\/p>\n
